Sometimes the hard part isn't
the software. It's the maths.
Nesting and cutting stock optimisation, bin packing, material yield, computational geometry, toolpath generation, dimension estimation from images.
Everyone knows there's a better way to pack the boxes, nest the sheets or plot the path. An experienced person does it by eye and it's close enough but "close enough" is a cost you pay on every order, forever.
We've solved two-dimensional bin packing to optimise cartons against both actual and volumetric weight formally NP- hard, meaning no exact answer exists at any useful scale, only heuristics that get very close very quickly. We've built skeletonisation for centre-line extraction, deriving toolpaths from arbitrary shapes. We've estimated real-world dimensions from a single photograph accurately enough to cost a facade from it.
The same class of work covers offcut and cutting-stock optimisation, where a few percent of material yield across every order is a figure that shows up in the annual accounts.

Your customers can't specify
your product without one of
your people.
2D and 3D product configurators, variant configuration, AR visualisation, CPQ, automated estimation, quantity take-off, bills of materials and quantities.
A customer describes what they want. Someone senior turns it into a drawing and a price over two days. It comes back not quite right, and you do it again while a faster competitor gets specified instead.
We build configurators that generate the product from its components rather than from a catalogue of pre-modelled variants profiles cut to length at runtime, accessories attached, the model assembled on demand. The rules underneath enforce buildability, so combinations your production can't make can't be sold.
The same model produces the price. Your pricing logic material rules, labour, exceptions, the discounts your team applies by feel gets documented, signed off by you, and built into something anyone in sales can run. Out comes the quote, the multi-level bill of materials or bill of quantities, and a record of what was offered to whom.
Most configuration platforms are built for configure-to-order, where the architecture is fixed and customers pick from predefined blocks. If you're engineer-to-order or make-to-order, adopting one means restructuring your product range first. We build for ETO and MTO as they are.
Your systems don't talk to each
other.
ERP and MES integration, production planning and control, scheduling, shop-floor and machine data collection, HRMS, dispatch and custom ERP where none of the products fit.
An order is agreed in one place, re-typed into the ERP by someone else, and reaches the floor as a printout. Nobody can say what's actually running right now without walking out to look.
We are not here to replace what you've spent years paying for. In most projects, the new part is one system, and everything else stays where it is; we build the connection. Where a piece is genuinely missing, or can't do what's now being asked of it, we build that instead.
Production planning and control
The most common missing piece. Work orders arrive from sales, someone decides what the floor builds first, someone else checks whether the material is in — and the plan lives in an experienced person's head where nobody can query it.We build planning systems around how your factory actually schedules: work order priority with a recorded reason for every change, material planning against real and reserved stock, capacity loading, quality control at both incoming and finished stages, and dispatch that waits for the right approvals.
Including the part most systems treat as an afterthought — your planner sees the bill of materials, the quantity and the delivery date, and not the customer's name or your margin.

The shop floor itself

When the data has to come
from something physical.
Embedded development, industrial IoT, sensor and telemetry hardware, machine retrofitting, asset and consignment tracking.
You need to know where something is, what a machine is doing, or what a process is producing and no amount of software helps, because nothing out there is measuring it.
This is the part of our work that isn't software at all. We design and build the devices, the firmware, and the systems that collect what they send.
That has meant parcel tracking hardware operating across continents, with everything that implies about power budgets, intermittent connectivity and roaming across networks. It has meant instrumenting machines that predate any notion of connectivity, so a production line can report output without being replaced.
Very few software companies will take this on, because it requires electronics as well as code. Fourteen years in manufacturing is why we do.
Nothing on the market fits

Bespoke line-of-business software, legacy modernisation, process digitisation built to the business rather than to a category.
You've evaluated four products. Each does most of the job and asks you to change your process for the rest. The gap between them is where your business actually operates.
Off-the-shelf software is organised around categories the industry invented CRM here, production planning there, dispatch somewhere else. Real businesses aren't. A sales conversation, a production schedule and a delivery run are requently one continuous process, and forcing them into three systems is where the re-typing starts.
When that's the situation, we build one system that follows the actual sequence of the work. It costs more than a licence and takes longer than a signup, so we'll tell you plainly when a product would do the job but where the fit genuinely isn't there, this is what fourteen years of building bespoke systems is for.
Our first client was an electrical control panel manufacturer running entirely on paper in 2012. Job cards, specifications, approvals, all handwritten. That system is still running. We haven't touched it in years.

Five things, not fifty.
We don't take on standalone marketing, social media or campaign work. Where a webshop and its search visibility are part of a system we're building a client's Odoo estate, say, with a configurator feeding it that's ours to deliver. Disconnected from the system, it isn't.
And we won't take a project simply because it's revenue. If what you need is outside this range we'll say so on the first call and, where we can, point you at someone better placed.
Fourteen years in one sector is worth something only if we stay in it.
